Samsung: record mobile phone sales in 4Q

Samsung Electronics has reported its 4Q financial results. Revenue grew by 3% to 15.69 trillion Won against the previous quarter. Net income for the quarter was 2.35 trillion Won, a 7% increase over the previous quarter.

Samsung sold 32 million mobile phones, a record high on the quarterly basis. The performance resulted from the popularity of the Ultra Edition series. Thus annual unit sales reached 118 million, surpassing the target figures.

In 2007 Samsung will strengthen its high-end line-up with 30 WCDMA phones and specialty phones that focus on music, video and messaging functions.

ASUS second generation of car notebooks

ASUSTeK Computer has announced a new generation of ASUS-Lamborghini notebooks. The VX2 series follows ASUS-Lamborghini VX1 released in 2006.

The VX2 is based on Intel Centrino Duo platform and Windows Vista operating system. Design of both series is similar, the company applied the same design elements relative to Lamborghini cars. The shell is made of aluminum-magnesium alloy with carbon fiber.

The metallic keyboard and the leather layer for palms should make the impression of the car inside. There are speakers at sides of the keyboard. The company hasn’t provided more details on the new series, they are expected closer to the announcement.
